Attorney General Keith Ellison announced that he has filed lawsuits against two unlicensed contractors who are accused of defrauding dozens of homeowners across the state.
He says that Earl Christian Rode IV and his company, High Road Builders LLC, and Ryan David Pietron and his company, Affordable Home Remodeling, LLC, ran nearly identical scams — though the two were unrelated. Both men accepted tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars in pre-payments for home renovations but then did little to no work and refused to return their customers’ money.
The lawsuits accuse Rode and his company of taking over $1.2 million from at least 10 families. Pietron is accused of taking $400,000 from 16 families.
Neither company was licensed, and Ellison said that at the time of the alleged fraud, Pietron’s company had been banned from applying for a contractor’s license until 2030, while Rode’s company had been banned from applying for life.
If you have been defrauded by either company, you can file a complaint HERE or call the Attorney General’s Office at 651-296-3353.
