Pedestrian hit by driver in Muncie hit-and-run; Sheriff’s Office investigating

MUNCIE, Ind. — One person is in the hospital after a reported hit-and-run over the weekend in Delaware County.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday that detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash in which a driver struck a pedestrian in Muncie. Police are now asking for the public’s help in solving the crime.

Deputies were called on Saturday, Oct. 11, to the 9800 block of South US 35 on report of a pedestrian struck. Upon arrival, they found a female who had reportedly been hit by a car between 8 p.m. and 8:40 p.m.

Authorities say the victim has been hospitalized and is now receiving treatment for injuries she sustained in the collision.

Investigators believe that the driver of the involved car left the scene. They still have not been located as of 5 p.m. Monday.

Police said the vehicle may have damage to the front passenger side headlight, but did not give any description of the car’s make, model or color. No other information was immediately provided, although the investigation is ongoing.

Now, the Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in tracking down the driver or vehicle allegedly involved in the crash. Anyone with information on or video footage of the crash is being asked to call (765) 747-7881 or (765) 747-7878.
