
PINE VALLEY, Utah (ABC4) — Areas of Pine Valley and Dammeron Valley are already seeing the effects of heavy rainfall, with flash flooding closing roads and causing debris flows.
Washington County Emergency Management and local law enforcement confirmed multiple debris flows and flash flooding on several roads in Pine Valley. Road closures are in effect.
One debris flow was reported at 150 feet wide and 6 to 8 inches deep, as measured from peak flows on the Santa Clara River gauge in Pine Valley.
Pine Valley Fire Chief Hardy said that there is ongoing flooding, and they suspect some homes have been damaged, but they haven’t been able to fully assess damages yet. The areas that are most concerning are those that border the drainages that exit the burn scar from the Forsyth Fire.
According to Enterprise Mayor Brandon Humphries, roads have been washed out, and homes have flooded in Veyo and Gunlock. Video below shows flooding in Veyo.
A viewer shared video showing that the main road in and out of Pine Valley is flooding, and he said that it is closed due to that flooding. A Pine Valley firefighter shared with ABC4 that they are dealing with debris in the roads.
Other video sent in shows a truck trying to drive through the flooding on Meadows View Drive, which we should stress is incredibly dangerous and should not be attempted. A vehicle can be swept away in floodwaters. The video also shows a culvert filling up and overflowing.
