By rssfeeds-admin MASON COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — Former Robertson County Sheriff Terry Gray is now on the other side of the law. He was arrested in Mason County on Tuesday and charged with another DUI, his third in two years.
Deputies said Gray nearly hit a Mason County Sheriff’s vehicle that was responding to reports of him driving more than 110 miles an hour on Tuesday night. They said his truck almost overturned in an embankment before stopping in a field near a private driveway.
Gray resigned as sheriff on Thursday after mounting pressure from the public and Gov. Andy Beshear, who wrote a letter to Gray, saying that if he didn’t comply, he would be removed from office for neglecting his duty to Robertson County.
On Friday, FOX 56 obtained security camera video showing the moments Gray was booked into the Mason County Detention Center.
During booking, a deputy jailer asked Gray if he had consumed drugs or alcohol within the last 14 days. Gray said yes, he had alcohol within the last 24 hours. He admitted to drinking a pack of mini bottles of Fireball whiskey.
Gray told one of the deputy jailers that there were ten shooters in the pack, and he drank nine of them.
A deputy can be seen removing one of those Fireball shooters from Gray’s pocket in the sallyport before he was taken into the jail.
Since Gray is now on the same side of the bars as those he used to arrest, deputies also asked about potential conflicts.

“Have you brought us inmates here before?” the deputy asked. Gray said, “Yes.”
When the deputy asked Gray if there could be conflicts between him and anyone currently housed at the jail, Gray responded by saying, “Probably.”
Gray is charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, reckless driving, wanton endangerment, and official misconduct.
Gray asked what his charges were, and the deputy told him. Gray appeared visibly upset about some of them and began questioning the charges.
He told the deputy that he understood the DUI charge, but not some of the others. While it’s unclear from the video which of the charges Gray is referring to, the deputy responded to him by saying, “What I was reading is because you were operating a vehicle with an excess speed of 110 miles an hour when they clocked it.”
Gray was indicted by a Mason County grand jury on Friday. His next court date has not yet been set.
