Texas Tribune event spotlights East Texas water supply issues

LONGVIEW, Texas (KETK)– The Texas Tribune hosted an event titled ‘Running Out: Texas’ Water Crisis and the Path Forward’ on Wednesday evening in Longview and online, addressing the state’s growing water crisis.

The event featured a discussion led by Tribune environmental reporter Alejandra Martinez, focusing on the battles over East Texas’ water supply and potential solutions to the crisis.

Community members had the opportunity to hear from water experts about the reasons behind the state’s water shortages and the ongoing conflicts over water management.

Speakers at the event included Janice Bezanson, executive director of the Texas Conservation Alliance, Kelley Holcomb, general manager of the Angelina and Neches River Authority and Jeremy Mazur, director of infrastructure and natural resources policy at Texas 2036.
