
According to Sheriff Jeff Bergeron, deputies stopped a Ford F-150 traveling east around 11 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, for careless operation.
During the stop, deputies reportedly saw drug paraphernalia in plain view. The driver, identified as Jamie Piraneo, 51, of Katy, Texas, admitted to having narcotics in the vehicle.
WBRSO said a search of the truck uncovered cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, and miscellaneous pills.
Piraneo was booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center on several charges, including:
- Careless Operation.
- Two counts of possession with intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics.
- Possession of Schedule IV narcotics.
- Illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
- Possession of a legend drug.
- Possession of drug paraphernalia.
WBRSO said Piraneo remains in custody on a $300,000 bond.
