PHILADELPHIA (WPHL) — SEPTA is facing another class action lawsuit related to the funding crisis, one month after a Philadelphia judge ordered the transit agency to reverse 20% service cuts it implemented earlier this year.
The judge’s order allowed the fare increases to take effect. Now, the lawsuit seeks a refund of the recent 21.5% fare increases to riders.
George Bochetto filed the suit, the same attorney who sued to restore SEPTA’s service cuts in September.
According to SEPTA, the fare increases are necessary to help close a more than $213 million deficit.
