Former PSU WR charged with homicide after DUI crash that killed girlfriend

BRADFORD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Julian Fleming, a former PSU wide receiver who was seriously injured in a crash that left 23-year-old Alyssa Boyd dead, has been charged with homicide by vehicle.

Fleming crashed an ATV in Columbia Township May 23. It was later discovered he was under the influence at the time. State police at the time reported that neither was wearing safety equipment.

According to previous coverage, a deer had entered the road, causing Fleming to crash the ATV. Boyd was pronounced dead at the scene, while Fleming was rushed to Guthrie Troy Community Hospital.

On Oct. 7, state police out of Towanda charged Fleming with homicide by vehicle while DUI, homicide by vehicle, aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence, aggravated assault by vehicle, DUI with blood alcohol between .1 and .16 percent, careless driving-unintentional death and lesser summary driving offenses.

Fleming played for Penn State last season after a transfer from Ohio State before entering the NFL draft. While he wasn’t drafted, he was picked up by Green Bay as a free agent.
