Sartell Police announced Wednesday that the 12-year-old boy who was hurt in a bicycle crash over the weekend will be taken off life support after doctors found “no brain activity.”
Sartell police say Raghav Shrestha was riding his bike down “Muskie Hill” on Sunday afternoon when he crashed near the bottom of the hill.

Despite wearing a helmet, police say Shrestha suffered a severe head injury that apparently caused cardiac arrest. The boy was placed on life support, but on Wednesday, police shared that his condition had not improved.
“It is with a heavy heart that we share Raghav’s condition has worsened, and as of this morning, his medical team has declared that he has no brain activity,” Chief of Police Brandon Silgjord said. “We know that we speak for our entire community when we say that our hearts are broken for Raghav’s parents, brother, and entire family as he will be removed from life support later this afternoon.”
Silgjord shared that Raghav’s parents wanted it known that they were proud to have been his parents and to have raised a boy who was “always courageous in his words and actions,” who never hurt a person or animal, and someone who was most proud of being an older brother.
Police said they learned from Raghav’s family the 7th grader had dreamed of one day being a police officer when he grew up.
The Sartell Police Department said they honored Raghav’s dream by pinning a badge on him and swearing him in as an honorary police officer with the Sartell Police.
