SPRINGVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) — Police responded to a student who brought a gun to Springville High School after allegedly threatening to take her own life.
According to the Springville Police Department, a call came in at approximately 7:13 a.m. Tuesday, allegedly from a student who claimed that she was suicidal and had a gun. The school’s student resource officer then responded to the scene, meeting the student in the lunchroom, where she had the gun in her backpack.
The department stated that the gun was taken without any problems and no one was injured. The student has since been taken to Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham.
The SPD is investigating the case.
