12-year-old Sartell boy on life support after bike crash, police say

A 12-year-old boy who was seriously hurt in a bicycle crash over the weekend in Sartell is on life support, police have confirmed.

Sartell police say Raghav Shrestha was riding his bike down “Muskie Hill” on Sunday afternoon when he crashed near the bottom of the hill.

Despite wearing a helmet, police say Shrestha suffered a severe head injury that apparently caused cardiac arrest.

A 10-year-old boy who was with Shrestha was able to get help, and a bystander began CPR until first responders arrived.

Shrestha was taken to St. Cloud Hospital, where he regained vital signs, according to police, before being airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

Police say the boy’s parents have been at his bedside since the accident happened, and they are asking for prayers and hoping “for a miracle.”

In the wake of the accident, police say they’ve worked closely with staff at Sartell-St. Stephen Middle School, where Shrestha is a seventh-grader, to ensure there is support for all who need it.

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS hasn’t yet verified any fundraisers for Shrestha or his family but will share that information when available.
