UCF came out swinging when Myles Montgomery found the endzone from 29 yards out to give the Knights the early advantage.
Montgomery would open the second quarter with a touchdown from the one-yard line to give UCF a 14-0 lead.
The Jayhawks would get on the board on the following drive as Leshon Williams capped off a nine play, 75-yard drive with a one-yard rushing score.
Williams would get his second score of the game late in the second quarter from 4 yards out as the Jayhawks trailed 20-14 at the break.
UCF rushed for 162 yards in the first half against KU.
Out of the half, Kansas would knock in a pair of field goals to tie the game before Williams found the endzone for the third time Saturday night, to give the Jayhawks the 27-20 edge.
The touchdown was set up after Jalen Dye got the sack and caused a fumble near the goal line.
