Officials said the additional felony charges are against 35-year-old Alejandro Mendoza of Texarkana. The extra charges were filed in Nevada and Hempstead counties.
Multiple juvenile victims are involved, officials said.
ASP officials stated that the investigation into Mendoza commenced in July 2024, when the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from special agents. The investigation led to Mendoza’s arrest in September 2024 and a $250,000 bond, they said.
Officials continued that Mendoza was arrested a second time on Oct. 7, 2024, with coordination by the ASP Highway Patrol Division and the U.S. Marshals Service Western District of Arkansas Fugitive Task Force. He was taken to the Nevada County Detention Center, and a $2 million bond was placed on him.
The former volunteer coach is now facing 24 felony charges, according to officials, including rape, indecency with a child by exposure, sexual grooming of a child, internet stalking of a child and multiple counts of engaging children in sexually explicit conduct.
The ongoing investigation has identified victims in Miller, Sevier, Hempstead, and Nevada counties, officials said.
Mendoza remains in custody at the Nevada County Detention Center.
