2 dead, driver charged with DUI after rollover crash in Wethersfield
WETHERSFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — Two people died and a man was arrested after a rollover crash Friday night on Route 5 and 15 in Wethersfield, according to state police.

The crash took place just before midnight in the area of Exit 85, fire officials said.

State police said the vehicle veered from the left lane and struck the metal beam guardrail, before rolling over and traveling down the embankment.

A search of the wooded area discovered two occupants, identified as Joshua Gonzalez, 25, of Springfield and Edwin Abraham Guzman, 21, of Chicopee, Massachusetts, outside of the vehicle suffering from life-threatening injuries.

They were transported to Hartford Hospital where they later died.

The operator of the vehicle, Alexis Garcia, 22, of Springfield, Massachusetts, appeared to be under the influence and failed to perform a field sobriety test to standard, state police said.

Garcia, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

He was held on $250,000 bond and will appear in New Britain Superior Court on Monday.
