Man struck, killed by train in LaPlace

LAPLACE, La. (WGNO) — A cyclist was fatally struck by a train in LaPlace on Thursday, Oct. 2.

According to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, 63-year-old Luciano Rodriguez of LaPlace was riding his bike over the railroad tracks on Cardinal Street around 11:15 a.m. when he was hit by a Canadian National Cargo Train. He died at the scene.

Deputies said no other injuries were reported.
