3 people in custody for alleged connection to shooting that left pregnant teen dead near Juniper Avenue
COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Officials with the Columbus Police Department announced on Friday that two suspect were in custody as they are accused of a homicide that happened on July 27.

According to CPD, warrants were obtained for three suspects in the Juniper Avenue shooting. That same day, the Fugitive Unit arrested 21-year-old Javon Seals, and 18-year-old Deandre Scranton, in Columbus.

Columbus PD says all three are charged with murder, four counts of aggravated assault, feticide, drive-by shooting, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Scranton faces an additional charge of theft by taking of a motor vehicle.

On July 27, a 17-year-old was shot during a house party in the 2600 block of Juniper Avenue around 1:15 a.m.

Authorities also said that in a connected incident several blocks away, an 18-year-old female suffered multiple gunshot injuries in a shooting incident that happened near Japonica Drive.

The 17-year-old, who was pregnant and identified as Keiauna McFadden, eventually died on Aug. 1 at approximately 4:08 p.m. She reportedly also lost her unborn child following the shooting incident.

The second victim was treated and released from the hospital.

All three suspects are expected to appear in Recorder’s Court for a preliminary hearing on Monday at 1:30 p.m.
