Gilroy police arrest 15-year-old in attempted murder case
The Gilroy Police Department said the 15-year-old boy, who was not named due to his age, was booked into Juvenile Hall on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a firearm after allegedly shooting a 17-year-old boy on Tuesday.
The incident began just before 2 p.m. when a fight was reported to have broken out at Mt. Madonna High School at the end of the school day. Responding police officers learned that the involved individuals had fled the school in vehicles. Soon after, another fight was reported on the 500 block of Broadway Street, with one gunshot being heard, Gilroy PD said.
Arriving officers found a 17-year-old boy suffering from injuries and a gun nearby, according to police. The injured teen was rushed to a local hospital and remains in critical but stable condition as of Wednesday afternoon.
“During the course of the investigation, a 15-year-old was identified as a suspect in the shooting,” Gilroy PD said.
