Beautiful October start with rebounding temperatures and dry conditions

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy October, friends! Happy Wednesday, Utah! We have a beautiful, sunny and pleasant midweek ahead of us for the entire state. The storm system that brought plenty of rain to the Wasatch Front Tuesday has exited the region allowing for a drier southwest flow to take over. High pressure to our south will build over Utah today and tomorrow, so we will see temperatures snap back to average, and even slightly above it, through Thursday. You can expect daytime highs to hit the mid to upper 70s along the Wasatch Front, a range of 70s throughout the central Utah and low to mid 80s throughout the lower elevations in Southern Utah. Enjoy these seasonal highs while you can, because it looks like we have another chance of temperatures tumbling by the close of the work week!

An area of low pressure off the Pacific Northwest looks to dig south and push inland by Friday. This trough, or low, would usher significantly cooler air into Northern and Central Utah for the weekend and bring the chance of isolated to scattered rain showers. This is a more traditional Fall weather system as we step away from Utah’s monsoon season. Highs will only be in the mid 60s for northern Utah, and low 80s for SW Utah. The mountains of Utah will likely see morning temps in the low to mid 30s with highs only in the 50s. The path of this low is not totally clear, but we could see the potential for wet weather as early as Friday afternoon and evening in Northern Utah. Right now, Saturday looks to bring the best chance for precipitation with snow levels dipping as low as 7500 feet by Saturday later afternoon and evening. This storm is still several days away, so make you sure you stay tuned!

We’ll keep you posted on the latest developments in our 4Warn Weather forecast both on-air and online, we are Good4Utah!
