Dr. Shawn Joseph said any time he has the chance to hear concerns from parents, he always makes himself available.
“In my first 66 days, what I realized is we must improve special education, we must address our multi-lingual learners, and we have to focus on reading and mathematics,” Joseph said.
The Superintendent, along with Board members and staff, met with parents at Martin Luther King Jr Middle School from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. in Beltsville.
Joseph says the goal was to hear from families and to hear their questions. He also wanted to share what he wants to accomplish during the first one hundred days of the school year.
“We have to improve our truancy rates we have an opportunity to expand our dual enrollment and our internships, and we have to focus on culture”.
This is the 15th meet and greet session the Superintendent has hosted since July.
