A 51-year-old has been charged in connection with a double homicide over the weekend in Minneapolis.
Robert Cardell Warren is charged with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of illegal firearm possession. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance in connection with this case on Wednesday afternoon.
Minneapolis police responded to a report of two residents of an apartment building at 15 East Grant Street fighting. The call was then upgraded to a shooting.

According to court documents, the suspect was described as wearing a green shirt and a green hat. When officers got to the apartment building, they were pointed toward the suspect, identified as Warren. They found a pocketknife and shotgun shells in his pocket.
Two deceased men were found inside the apartment building. The first was found shot in one of the building’s elevators and the other was found in an elevator bay. Both men had been shot in the neck, court documents state. They have not yet been publicly identified.
Both victims, as well as Warren, lived in the building.
Investigators found a long-gun case inside Warren’s apartment.
The person who called 911 told police that Warren and one of the victims were fighting in the front entryway of the apartment building, court documents state. The witness separated them and heard a gunshot while calling 911.
Surveillance video showed the fight and the witness separating Warren and the victim. The two victims were seen getting onto the elevator and riding up to the fifth floor, while Warran was seen taking the stairs to his second-floor apartment, grabbing a shotgun, and returning to the second-floor elevator bay.
The victims were then seen taking the elevator to the second floor, one of whom was armed with a clothes iron. Court documents state Warren then ambushed them from behind and shot them.
Court documents note that Warren has previously been convicted of domestic assault and third-degree assault, which prohibited him from owning a firearm or ammunition.
