County sales tax collections show modest increase

Sales tax collections for the month showed modest gains compared with the same month last year.
The county’s portion of sales tax rose 2%, an increase of $11,410, while the jail’s portion also increased 2%, or $5,008.

Year-to-date, the county’s collections are up 1.6%, or $71,383, and the jail’s portion has increased 1.6%, or $31,334. Budget projections for the year also rose this month, with the county’s portion increasing 3.4% and the jail’s portion up 2.8%.
