When YourCentralValley.com called the stores on Friday to confirm the closures, staff we spoke to told us they found out that their store was closing the day before.
The closures in Fresno are part of a worldwide restructuring effort by Starbucks as it continues to focus on its “Back to Starbucks” plan, laying off 900 non-retail employees. The Seattle coffee giant said store closures would start immediately.
Starbucks said affected employees would be offered severance packages and transferred to other locations if possible.
