Pawn shop ring swap has authorities searching for an alleged tricky thief
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Shreveport Police Department is looking for an alleged tricky thief who swapped rings at a Shreveport pawn shop.
Police say Michael Cobb entered a Shreveport pawn shop under the guise that he was interested in purchasing several rings in a display case.
The store associate allowed Cobb to view the ring while the associate went to search for another item of interest.
During the time the attendant was away, Cobb allegedly swapped two rings with look-alikes from his pocket.
When reviewing camera footage for additional information, officers say the alleged crook can be seen visiting the same shop just one day before, taking a video of several jewelry showcases.
Returning the next day to swap the rings of choice, with counterfeits.
The total value of the two stolen rings was $1,999 and approximately $2,500.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Michael Cobb is urged to contact the Shreveport Police Department at 318-673-7300.
