Christiano Antonio Madison, 21, was arrested in Salt Lake County on one charge of murder, a first-degree felony, and one charge of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony.
On Sept. 18, Unified Police responded to a traffic accident at a Midvale residence. Upon arrival, officers found a red 2014 Chevy Malibu in the front yard of a duplex on La Salle Dr.
When officers approached the vehicle, they found a deceased male victim in the front seat. Inside the vehicle, police found THC cartridges and an undisclosed amount of cash in the victim’s wallet.
One complainant told investigators he was in his vehicle in the east parking lot of an LDS church located on Jackson St. He was reportedly watching football on his phone when he heard what sounded like a gunshot, then witnessed a vehicle with its lights off travelling at around 30-35 mph through the parking lot, over the sidewalk, and into the front yard of the duplex.
Police searched the parking lot and found a shell casing on the north side of the church. Investigators also found several cameras at residences and conducted interviews.
They found that two suspects were seen walking eastbound on Cornell Dr. towards Jackson St. prior to the murder. The two suspects then walked southbound on Jackson St. toward the church parking lot. Shortly after, the camera captures the same two suspects fleeing the parking lot, heading westbound on Harrison St. Another camera in the area captured the sound of a gunshot at approximately 8:14 p.m.
Investigators reportedly found several different videos which led them to a specific house in Midvale. Video evidence shows four suspects running into this residence immediately after the murder, according to Unified Police. Investigators served a warrant on the residence and took several people into custody for interviews.
Throughout the interviews, police learned the suspects had intended to rob the victim of his marijuana.
Detectives used social media to help identify the suspects involved. Evidence in the investigation links each of the suspects to the same criminal gang, according to Unified Police.
Christiano Madison was reportedly a fugitive after missing his last check-in with his probation officer. He uses the moniker “Menace,” according to police.
Madison was booked into Salt Lake County Jail on the aforementioned charges. Two additional suspects, both of whom are minors, have also been arrested in the case.
