High speed chase rips through Caddo Parish exceeding 100 mph, one suspect slips away
CADDO PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Police say a late-night chase reached extreme speeds when two motorcyclists attempted
Just after midnight, Caddo Parish K9 Handler Deputy Vaitkus reported spotting two motorcycles committing multiple traffic violations at the intersection of North Market and North Port Boulevard.
According to reports, when Deputy Vaitkus attempted to stop them, both motorcyclists took off northbound at speeds police say exceeded 100 mph.
One rider, later identified as 25-year-old Logan C. Smith, crashed while attempting to make a high-speed turn.
Smith attempted to pick up his motorcycle and continue his escape but eventually abandoned it and walked directly toward a deputy.
Despite clear verbal commands to get on the ground, police say Smith refused to comply and K9 “Snoop” successfully took him down.
After receiving medical treatment, Smith was transported to the Caddo Correctional Center, where he was booked on multiple charges:
Police continue to search for the second driver who they say remains unaccounted for.
The investigation remains ongoing.
