Shreveport Fire Department battles attic blaze on Hawkins Ave

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) —  On September 25, 2025, at 3:09 pm, the Shreveport Fire Department received a report of a house fire in the 1200 block of Hawkins Ave.

According to a news release from the SFD, crews were alerted to the fire by the homeowner, who had driven to Fire Station #6 due to a malfunctioning 911 dispatch phone system that interrupted emergency service notifications across the state and region. 

Engine 6 arrived at the scene in four minutes and reported heavy smoke from the eaves of the home. Crews made entry and were able to locate and isolate the fire to the attic area of the house. It took 9 units and 27 firefighters to bring the incident under control at 3:45 pm, according to the news release. 

There were no injuries to citizens or firefighters reported at this time. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation also at this time by the Shreveport Fire Department Arson Investigators.
