Topeka Rescue Mission collects 700 pounds of food for charity

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Miriam Krehbiel with the Topeka Rescue Mission joined the 27 News Morning Show on Friday to talk about a recent Night of Praise event and new job openings.

TRM recently hosted its Night of Praise fundraiser on Sept. 12. Krehbiel said the event drew nearly 300 attendees and collected 700 pounds of food for charity.

“It was absolutely beautiful,” Krehbiel said. “We were worshiping and sharing things about the mission, testimonies from people who had been at the mission and it just really couldn’t have gone better.”

The event was held to support the mission’s efforts in providing food, shelter and education to those in need. Attendees heard testimonials from individuals like a former guest and current employee, highlighting the mission’s services.

“People got to hear what a transformed life really looks like,” Krehbiel said.

The TRM helps between 240 and 250 people each night, including about 50 children, according to Krehbiel. The mission provides not only shelter but also food bags to community members and prepared meals for those staying at the mission.
