SPPD said officers responded at 4:17 a.m. to reports of a vehicle fire in the 13900 block of San Pablo Avenue.
“Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle parked within a carport, fully engulfed in flames,” said San Pablo PD in a social media post.
The fire was quickly put out by the Contra Costa County Fire District. The car and an attached commercial building were both unoccupied during the incident, confirmed police.
The estimated value of damage to the vehicle was not disclosed.
“Based on information gathered from the scene, investigators determined that the fire was intentionally set to the vehicle by an unknown suspect” who is shown below.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian man who is between the ages of 30 to 40 years old. Witnesses said he walked away from the scene while wearing a black graphic t-shirt over a gray long-sleeve shirt, dark colored pants, and black shoes.
The motive and circumstances behind the incident are not yet known.
This is an active case. Anyone who recognizes the suspect is encouraged to contact Detective J. Spiegel at JosephS@SanPabloCA.gov, or call (510) 215-3109.
