Wanted: One Suspect identified in Shreveport Mass Shooting, police suspect more gunmen
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Shreveport Police Department (SPD) has released the photo of a suspect in the September mass shooting that left two dead and injured many others.
SPD has identified 21-year-old Rasson Smith Jr. as a suspect in the September 20, 2025, mass shooting on Poland Avenue.
An active warrant has been issued for Attempted Second-Degree Murder; he is considered armed and dangerous.
Police say the shooting occurred just after 2:00 a.m. in the 1600 block of Poland Avenue when officers responded to reports of gunfire at a large gathering of more than 150 people.
Upon arrival, they encountered a chaotic scene and discovered eight victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, while six others were injured and expected to survive.
Investigators believe there were multiple shooters involved.
Given the number of people present, the police encourage any witnesses with information to come forward.
