ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — The trial of three teenagers accused in the death investigation of a St. Tammany Parish deputy has been delayed.

Adrian Waughtal, Mason Fischer and Michael Lanier are set to stand trial on July 6, 2026. The district attorney’s office said the defense lawyers wanted more time to file pre-trial motions.

On March 23, Sgt. Grant Candies was putting down road spikes on I-10 near the Oak Harbor exit when he was struck by a car.

Waughtal and Fischer are charged with second-degree murder. Lanier is charged with manslaughter. All three face additional charges as well.
