SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Community Foundation of North Louisiana has named Debra Roberson as the 2025 recipient of the G. Scott Griffin Award, which honors a local artist who has made significant contributions to the community while overcoming adversity.

According to a news release from the community foundation, the award is named for G. Scott Griffin, a multidisciplinary artist whose work in music, photography, and film was shaped by his perseverance in overcoming a visual impairment. The award is presented annually to an artist in North Louisiana who demonstrates similar passion and persistence.

Roberson overcame early hardships to earn degrees from Dartmouth College and Wheaton College and build a career in IT. In 2020, she began pursuing photography and has since gained recognition through exhibitions and awards, including the Critic’s Choice Award in Visual Arts at the 2022 Critical Mass X exhibition hosted by the Shreveport Regional Arts Council.

More information about the award and the Scott Griffin Fund is available at cfnla.org.
