When it comes to love, some people swipe right. But one Bay Area woman is taking her search for a husband to new heights — literally — with digital billboards.
If you’ve been driving recently on Highway 101 from the South Bay up to the city, you may know what we’re talking about. Bay Area bachelorette Lisa Catalano has been running the billboards along 101 from Santa Clara to San Francisco.
“I just want to meet somebody,” Catalano said. “And I was just not having any luck any other way.”
The billboards showcase Catalano’s face and her website, marrylisa.com. It’s a web page, she said, she built after too many bad dates.
If you’re interested in applying to be her future husband, the website has an application page. She also uses the website to spell out her likes, dislikes, and non-negotiables.
“You know, it just comes down to chemistry,” Catalano said. “But, you know, it’s things like religion, politics, lifestyle. I want somebody who leads a healthy lifestyle like I do.”
“And somebody who wants to get married and have kids,” she added. “Because that’s something that’s really important to me.”
Her billboards have been up for the entire month of September. She said that while she hasn’t added up the cost, she has put safety measures in place. Especially after one of her TikTok posts went viral, with some in the comments calling her crazy.
Others, meanwhile, questioned whether she was being genuine or merely seeking viral fame or an invitation to appear on a reality matchmaking show.
“I’m real. I’m not [looking for fame],” she said. “I guess that was something that came up, too. I’m definitely a real person. This is a real endeavor, and my primary goal is to meet the love of my life, to get married and to try to start a family.”
Catalano was previously engaged to a long-term boyfriend. But tragedy struck when he passed away from a terminal illness in late 2023.
She says now, she’s ready to love again and hopefully, walk down the aisle.
As for the applications, she said she’s still sorting through them but hopes “Mr. Right” is in there and has a message for him.
“I hope that this is a great story that we can tell our future children,” she said.
For now, her love story may be being written across Bay Area freeways. But she’s ready to take the fast lane — to happily ever after.
