PHOTOS: Commercial building with 'flames through the roof' sparked brush fire
The fire, which sent “flames through the roof” of the building, sparked a 2-alarm brush fire, which is now under control, said Lindsay Amundson, a spokesperson for the Clackamas Fire Department.
The fire occurred near South Carus Road and OR-213.
“When crews showed up, it was a heavily involved structure commercial building. Ultimately, embers from that building flew across the street, and started a brush fire. And so they quickly called a second alarm, and brought in more resources to attack that. There was level three evacuations. Those have since been stopped,” Amundson said. “But they knocked down the brush fire. There’s been no reported injuries.”
Crews are now entering the mop-up stage and firefighters are expected to remain on the scene for the next several hours, possibly overnight. Amundson said the immediate focus was to protect the structures surrounding the building that was on fire, which has since completely collapsed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and officials said they expect more information in the coming weeks.
