Tuesday forecast: Mostly dry start before evening showers move in
Tuesday opens with partly cloudy skies and a small chance of an isolated shower but much of the area will be dry. Rainfall coverage will increase later in the day and into Tuesday evening, especially from the city and points south. Locally heavy downpours are possible in the heavier cells, but not everyone will see this.
We could certainly use the rain, while some areas have gotten in on locally heavy downpours, much of the area has missed out on rain. Here is the updated September rainfall tally for both airports which depicts how dry the month has been so far.
Another mild start to the day with 60s areawide, well above the typical mid 50s for this time of year.
Not quite as warm as the past two days with mid to upper 70s expected for much of the area. A few inland locations are likely to hit the lower 80s.
An unsettled weather pattern continues the next few days with additional chances for scattered showers and possible thunderstorms. Note, rainfall will be hit or miss and highly varied across the area.
Moderate levels of humidity will continue through mid-week helping to fuel any shower or thunderstorm chances. Noticeably drier, more comfortable air settles in later this week.
Highs take a dip to near seasonal levels later this week before another warm-up commences towards the coming weekend.
High temperatures to average well above normal overall across the Northern Tier states during the final week of September.
Much of the Lower 48 to average above normal by and large as we close September and open the new month of October a week from Wednesday.
