More than a dozen suspects rob San Ramon jewelry store: police
SAN RAMON, Calif. (KRON) — A jewelry store in San Ramon was victim to an armed robbery Monday afternoon, according to the San Ramon Police Department (SRPD). At 1:50 p.m., officers responded to a “take-over style armed robbery” at Heller Jewelers at the City Center Bishop Ranch shopping center.

Police said approximately 20 masked individuals “entered the store and began smashing display cases, taking numerous items.” Some of them were armed, and multiple shots were fired at the front entrance.

No one was injured, and there is no current threat to the public, according to SRPD.

The suspects escaped by fleeing in multiple cars waiting outside at the shopping center’s valet parking area, SRPD said. Officers initially pursued the suspects but ended the pursuit due to public safety concerns. With the help of air support through Contra Costa and Alameda counties, “several suspects” were detained in Oakland and Dublin.

SRPD did not state the value amount of the jewelry stolen. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Corporal Kevin Tjahjadi at 925-733-7316. San Ramon police received assistance from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office and the Oakland Police Department.
