Oakland Ballers win championship in 2nd season
(KRON) — In just their second season, the Oakland Ballers are Pioneer Baseball League champions. The Ballers handily defeated the Idaho Falls Chukars 8-1 in Oakland on Sunday night.

A sellout crowd of 4,100 at Raimondi Park watched as the team took an early lead, securing four runs through two innings. The Ballers upped the lead to eight in the seventh. The Chukars were able to sidestep a shutout by managing one run in the ninth inning.

Nothing was a given as the series began. Idaho Falls won the first two games before Oakland hit back, winning three in a row to earn the first championship in franchise history.

PBL called it “a defining moment for Oakland baseball and a fresh chapter in Pioneer League history.”
