Juvenile injured during Indianapolis police chase

INDIANAPOLIS — A juvenile was injured during a police chase in Indianapolis on Sunday night.

Public emergency reporting systems indicate the chase — which involved officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department — began near the intersection of East 43rd Street and North Arlington Avenue around 9:04 p.m. A FOX59/CBS4 crew found a crash scene at the intersection of North Arlington Avenue and Village Plaza North Drive around 10 p.m.

Officers at the scene confirmed that the crash involved a vehicle that police had been chasing and a car that was not previously implicated in the pursuit in any way.

Police indicated that the vehicle involved in Sunday night’s chase had previously been reported stolen. They believe it had been spotted at the scene of a business burglary and shots-fired incident.

At the end of the chase, police found a 14-year-old suspect inside the allegedly stolen car. That juvenile, later identified as the driver, was transported from the scene to a local hospital in serious condition. Police later described the injuries as minor.

The other driver was treated at the scene and released, police said.

IMPD reported that no officers were injured during the chase. The case remains under investigation.
