Hydrogen tank explosion at Louisville plant leaves 1 dead

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — One person is dead after an explosion at a Louisville plant Sunday afternoon.

FOX affiliate WDRB reported that at 12:39 p.m., Louisville and Shively fire departments were called to a fire alarm at the 2500 block of Seventh Street Road.

When crews arrived, employees with AAK Inc. led firefighters to the area where a hydrogen tank explosion had occurred.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

Firefighters said one person was found dead from the explosion. The fire was contained to the outside of the building.

The plant’s website noted that AAK produced plant-based oils and fats.

Louisville Metro Arson is handling the investigation.
