In a news release, the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) said that deputies were finishing a report at the Comfort Inn Motel on Salisbury Drive around 9:10 p.m. when a female approached them and said that a man was being “inappropriate.”
“Deputies would notice the male in question and instantly knew who he was,” SCSO said.
Deputies had already explained to the man once that if he trespassed on the property again, he would be arrested. They approached him and told him he was under arrest, at which time SCSO said he exclaimed, “Oh no!” and started running away — however, his escape attempt was foiled.
“The suspect’s speed was too much for his pants, for they began falling down, which caused him to trip,” SCSO said in a news release.
Deputies arrested him and noticed signs of intoxication (a strong alcoholic odor on his breath).
SCSO arrested 26-year-old Brandon Bates and charged him with trespassing, attempted fleeing from law enforcement, obstruction of justice and public intoxication.
Officials held him until he was sober.
