NC A&T’s Blue and Gold Marching Machine to perform at Giants vs. Chiefs halftime

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (WGHP) — North Carolina A&T State University’s Blue and Gold Marching Machine will bring its “high-stepping performances, precise drills, powerful yet melodic sound and boundless energy” to MetLife Stadium this Sunday, according to a Facebook post.

The band will perform at halftime during the New York Giants/Kansas City Chiefs showdown Sunday, Sept. 21 at 8:20 p.m.

This is not the first time the BGMM has performed at halftime during an NFL game. On Sept. 11, 2022, a sea of blue and gold took over Ford Field as the Aggies performed during the Detroit Lions’ season opener.

Led by Dr. Kenneth Ruff, the BGMM is no stranger to national performances and recognition. According to a 2014 article featured in A&T’s Alumni Times, the BGMM was declared the first official winner of the Honda Battle of the Bands. Its website says they have also been named the official band of the Carolina Panthers, have led the 2012 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and have won ESPN Band of the Year in 2023.

The band program started in 1918 with about a 50-piece band, according to NCAT’s website. Since then, it has grown to about 250 members in various sections: piccolos, clarinets, saxophones, mellophones, trumpets, trombones, euphonium, sousaphones, Cold Steel Drumline and Golden Delight Auxiliary.
