Teenager charged in connection with deadly Grays Ferry mass shooting

PHILADELPHIA (WPHL) — A teenager is now in police custody after being wanted in connection with a mass shooting in Grays Ferry that killed three people in July.

Friday morning, the Philadelphia Police Department’s SWAT Unit and Homicide Detectives executed a search warrant at a South Philadelphia home and took Brandon Fischer, 17, into custody without incident. Fischer will be charged with murder, attempted murder, and other related offenses. 

The July 7 shooting on the 1500 block of South Etting Street killed Zahir Wylie, 23; Jason Reese, 19; and Azir Harris, 24.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, nine additional victims were shot, ranging in age from 15 to 23 years old.

As with all homicides in the City of Philadelphia, a $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
