According to the University of Mississippi Communications, the private plane crashed shortly after takeoff around 1:15 p.m. on September 18, 2025.
The two individuals on board were injured and airlifted to area hospitals for treatment. Their conditions are unknown.
Officials said emergency personnel from Oxford, Lafayette County and the university responded to the scene. The University-Oxford Airport is currently closed and incoming flights are being directed to other airports.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will investigate the cause of the crash.
