3 injuried in Aitkin County plane crash
Three people are recovering at the hospital after their small plane crashed on Sunday near the McGregor Airport in Aitkin County.
The sheriff’s office said that a 911 call came in at 4:26 p.m. about a plane crash. First responders found the small aircraft, a Piper PA-28 140, about half a mile southeast of the McGregor Airport in a swampy area.
Three people were on the plane. They were 22 or 23 years old, with two from Ham Lake and one from New Richmond.
All three are in the hospital in stable condition, although one of the three needed to be flown to a hospital after the crash.
The plane is believed to have lost power shortly after takeoff, and the pilot was attempting to return to the airport when it crashed, according to the press release.
