Tuesday was seventh consecutive day of above-normal temperatures
Tuesday was another warm, summerlike day across much of the Chicagoland area as we logged an above normal temperature for a seventh consecutive day. This is quite a change from the streak of 17 consecutive below-normal days prior to this warm streak.
Far inland highs were close to 90-degrees again Tuesday afternoon while an easterly lake breeze continues to provide free air conditioning for lakeside areas. Both Lincoln Park and Northerly Island only reached 74-degrees. That created a spread of 16-degrees across the area from the warmest high to the coolest.
2025 tally inching closer to the annual normal, now at 76 days officially at O’Hare, but well below the 91 days of 80-degrees or warmer through September 16th a year ago.
A third consecutive day with nearly 100% of possible sunshine keeping the sunny September trend going.
Late summer heat not far away as multiple locations across the Plains and Upper Midwest logged highs of 90-degrees or warmer, including Minneapolis, Kansas City and St. Louis.
Unseasonable warmth across much of the Upper Midwest with highs some 15-20 degrees above normal.
While still not great news as mold and weed reporting at high levels, the ragweed pollen has dropped a category into the moderate range. This is the first time in over a month ragweed hasn’t been categorized as high.
