Monday almanac: Summerlike warmth hangs on as Fall 2025 gets underway
Fall 2025 began at 1:19 p.m. Monday afternoon but it still felt a lot like summer.
Temperatures warmed into the 80s for the bulk of the Chicagoland area, a level nearly 10-degrees above normal for late September. It marked the 13th consecutive day the daily temperature average has been in surplus territory.
Despite a rather extended cool stretch the end of August and beginning part of this month, the annual 80-degree or warmer tally is on par with what is typical in a given year and we aren’t done with the warmth just yet.
September continues its overall sunny ways averaging about 76% for the month, well above the 65% considered normal.
Summertime warmth dominated the eastern two thirds of the country as highs were as much as 10-degrees above normal for many locations.
