The fires broke out along a section of the highway, known colloquially as the Guadalupe Freeway, between Hillsdale and Curtner avenues, and in the area of Communications Hill. SJFD’s response included 14 fire engines, two battalion chiefs and 60 firefighters.
The incident was under control by 12:36 a.m.
No structures were damaged. However, one civilian was treated for injuries at the scene. Fire officials said SJFD’s Arson Unit is investigating the incident. Anyone with information related to the investigation is encouraged to contact the San Jose Fire Department.
