Beloit man accused of persuading minor to produce child pornography

MADISON, Wis. (WTVO) — A federal grand jury has indicted Michael Shu, 25, of Beloit, for producing and receiving child pornography, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, on two occasions in March 2025, Shu coaxed the victim into producing child pornography, and then on four additional occasions, received child pornography from the victim through Discord.

If convicted, Shu faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison. For receiving child pornography, the conviction ranges from 5 to 20 years.

The FBI, Beloit Police Department, and the Newport, New Hampshire, Police Department assisted with the investigation.
