ST. MARTINVILLE, La. (KLFY) — A St. Martinville police officer has been arrested for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.

Today Christopher Journet was arrested by the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office and booked into a St. Martin Parish jail on one charge of felony theft.

Officials said on Sept. 11 the St. Martinville Police Department command staff received a citizen complaint regarding an off-duty officer, Christopher Journet. The complainant reported that Journet was permitted to take his motorcycle around the block from the club “Lil Easy” but failed to return it.

Following an administrative review, Chief Ricky Martin referred the matter to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office where a criminal investigation was initiated.

Officials said, for reasons unrelated to the incident, Journet has been terminated from the St. Martinville Police Department.

No information was provided regarding the bail of Journet.
