As the upper-level low will dig along the California Coast and usher in more moisture and bring isolated showers and thunderstorms to the northern and eastern side of the state. As the low lifts through the Great Basin on Friday, storms remain with isolated potential. Along the state line on the eastern side of the state, the Storm Prediction Center has upgraded the thunderstorm threat to a “marginal risk” meaning there could be a few isolated severe storms possible. Excessive rainfall is possible, so a “Flood Watch” has been issued for parts of SE Utah including the San Juan mountains, San Juan River Basin, La Sal and Abajo mountains. The watch is posted for Thursday morning through Thursday evening as excessive runoff from strong thunderstorms may result in debris flows and flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
The Fall feels are around the corner with temperatures taking a notable tumble on Friday and Saturday. On top of an isolated shower or storm, expect highs in the 70s along the Wasatch Front, getting back to the 80s by the latter half of the weekend.
