CHENEYVILLE, La. (WNTZ) – A Cheneyville man who serves as the town’s police chief has been arrested on multiple charges involving alleged sexual abuse of a juvenile, according to Louisiana State Police.

The Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit said it began investigating in September after receiving a report of inappropriate contact between an adult male and a juvenile in the Cheneyville community.

Following interviews, investigators identified the suspect as 37-year-old Charles A. Issac of Cheneyville. Warrants were obtained for his arrest on charges of molestation of a juvenile, sexual battery of a victim under the age of 13, and aggravated crimes against nature.

Issac was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on Sept. 11. State police said he was not on duty when the alleged acts occurred. State police also note, “All inquiries regarding his employment should be directed to the Office of the Mayor of Cheneyville.”

The investigation remains ongoing.
